Community Service, Mentoring and Peer Review banner

ASCE supports engineer volunteers who lend their talents to complete service projects in the community, mentor engineers and students, and provide professional coaching to public sector agencies so they may improve the management and quality of their engineering services. Join thousands of civil engineers around the country who are making a difference for their communities and for themselves.

Disaster Assistance Volunteer Program label

When natural or manmade disasters such as tsunamis, hurricanes, or structural failures

occur, ASCE members find avenues to assist through the Society and generously volunteer their time and talents. ASCE supports this activity, and has developed a directory of members who are interested and available when needed. The Disaster Assistance Volunteer Program is seeking volunteers willing to participate in planning, preparedness, response, and recovery to help respond and rebuild where the next disaster strikes.

Pre-College Outreach label

The Society's Pre-College Outreach program provides training and innovative programming and resources to help volunteer engineers work with students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Volunteers come away with a sense of purpose, having promoted the field of civil engineering to future generations and having helped children grow in technological literacy and as world citizens.

Engineers Without Borders-USA label

Engineers Without Borders-USA began with an innovative idea: connect a developing country with a specific infrastructure need to engineering students able to design a solution to meet that need. Since the first program nine years ago, EWB-USA has grown exponentially. Through EWB-USA programs, engineering students and professionals are able to share their knowledge and expertise in the engineering profession and know that they are touching the lives of many and making a real difference in communities around the globe.
