WHAT IS OPAL? Outstanding Projects and Leaders (OPAL)

The OPAL Awards are the preeminent awards program for civil engineers and ASCE’s principal mechanism for bringing worldwide attention to the contributions and accomplishments of the civil engineering community.

PROJECTS:

ASCE annually recognizes an exemplary civil engineering project as the Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement. Established in 1960, this prestigious award honors the project(s) that best illustrate superior civil engineering skills and represents a significant contribution to civil engineering progress and society.

LEADERS:

ASCE celebrates achievements of civil engineering leaders who have designed and built the world's most recognized and important infrastructure systems. Their engineering wonders have contributed to the creation of thriving businesses that contribute to the local economies of the communities they serve. Our lifetime recipients represent a model of achievement to which future generations of engineers aspire.
