History and Process of EJCDC Documents

Learn how EJCDC documents can benefit Owners, Engineers and Contractors.  Billions of dollars are being spent on construction litigation today.  Most experts agree that good contract documents are the first step in avoiding litigation.  The presentation will review and discuss the reasons for the development and publication of the EJCDC documents, the four organizations that sponsor EJCDC, the process used to develop, revise and update the documents, and a brief description of the documents available and how they should be used.

C-700 Document Review

In this session we will conduct a detailed review and analysis of several key provisions of EJCDC C-700, Standard General Conditions of the Construction Contract.  Among the topics that will be discussed are the differing site conditions clause; shop drawing procedures; substitutions and "or equals"; warranties and correction period; progress and completion delays; and delegation of design responsibilities to contractor.

Industry Users Panel

Our panel of experts will discuss specific clauses in the EJCDC documents that are of particular importance to construction industry professionals. The allocation of risk and responsibility between the client, contractor and design professional in the EJCDC documents will be discussed. Some of the specific issues that will be addressed will include the standard of care for design professionals, indemnity obligations, and ownership of documents. Seminar participants will be encouraged to participate with questions and observations during this session.
