The Transportation and Development Institute (T&DI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is pleased to announce the 2nd T&DI Congress with the theme "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: Connections to Future Developments." The Congress will be held June 8 - 11, 2014 in Orlando, Florida.
Funding constraints, dwindling natural resources, and environmental concerns require those professionals developing the built environment to constantly search for new technologies and processes to move people and goods more safely, efficiently, shorter distances, and with less environmental impact. Communities of the future will also need to be developed to provide many of the daily services and places to work to minimize daily commuting.
The Congress will bring together researchers, designers, and contractors from around the world to discuss advances in transportation and modes of travel, as well as, the interconnection with new developments such as Airport Cities, Planned Neighborhoods, and Urban City Centers. Topics in the technical tracks include design, sustainability, construction, operation, rehabilitation and reuse, and emerging technologies. The conference program includes the following:
