Pre-conference workshops are being considered/  Possible workshop topics that are currently being discussed include: (a) acceptable risks to lifelines subjected to natural and man-made hazards, presented by the ASCE Council on Disaster Risk Management; and (b) findings from an Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) field exercise scheduled for early 2009 that will focus on risks from and response to a Magnitude 7 earthquake along the Hayward Fault, presented by coordinators of the exercise.
