Guidelines on Submission of Abstracts

Final papers due February 21, 2009

Authors must recognize that submission of an abstract acknowledges

  • Their assertion that the paper content has not been previously published or presented,
  • Their commitment to complete the paper and to have at least one of the authors attend the conference and present the paper, and
  • Their assertion that permission to present the paper has been obtained from the responsible owning authority of the featured project.

In addition, if the author’s paper is accepted, submittal of the final paper must be accompanied by the completed registration form and the full registration fee for the presenting author.

 

Prerequisites -

  • Online accounts for all author(s)
  • Abstract Title
  • Abstract Document (preferably WORD document)


Your submission must:

  • Be no longer than 500 words and written in English.
  • Summarize the information to be presented at the Conference.
  • Be in paragraph format as outlines are not acceptable.
  • Be submitted into one of the proposed topic areas presented on the website,
  • Include the full abstract/paper title.
  • List the affiliation and complete contact information (mailing address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address) of each author.
  • Indicate the primary contact. This is the person who will be expected to present the paper at the Conference.

Deadlines will be strictly adhered to and authors will be required to register for the Conference at the time of paper upload.  Failure to submit abstracts and/or papers by the deadline will result in removal from the Conference program and proceedings. Authors whose abstracts are accepted and who submit a final paper are expected to attend the Conference, pay the appropriate fees, and make their presentation(s) in person. For program questions, contact the Technical Chair or Co-Chair. Proceedings will be published.

 

The prospective authors shall associate their abstract with one of the following conference topics.

  • Seismic performance requirements
  • Seismic design and retrofit
  • Seismic performance evaluation
  • Design and analysis for flood, extreme wind, and man-made hazards
  • In-common issues for lifelines subjected to earthquakes, other natural hazards, and man-made hazards:
    • System risk analysis and management
    • Hazard estimation
    • Codes and standards
    • Performance during past events
    • Lifeline interdependence
    • Socio-economic impacts
    • Emergency response and recovery planning
    • Capital improvement programs
    • Lifeline resilience and sustainability
 

All abstracts will be reviewed by the TCLEE 2009 Technical Program Committee, who will accept or reject the proposed paper based on information presented in the abstracts.


All expenses associated with the preparation, submission, and presentation of abstracts and papers are the responsibility of the authors and co-authors.
