Innovation in Design of Steel Structures: Research Needs for Global Competitiveness8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Earn 7.0 PDHs Please check the appropriate box on the registration page to register and pay for this seminar. The ASCE/SEI Metals Technical Activities Committee (TAC) is organizing a day-long workshop to develop a research and innovations agenda for the design of steel structures. Building off discussion generated at the AISC Innovations meeting, held in December 2010, this workshop will provide a forum to not only discuss the state of the art of steel design but also to collaboratively develop a vision for research and innovation in the coming decade. Sponsoring Committee: ASCE/SEI Metals Technical Activities Committee (TAC) Registration Fee: EB/ADV: $175; ONS: $250 Lunch provided by AISC
ADVANCED STRUCTURAL BIM: EXPANDING YOUR ROLE1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Earn 3.5 PDHs Please check the appropriate box on the registration page to register and pay for this seminar. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is rapidly transforming the structural design profession. Engineers can use these tools to improve the efficiency and quality of their work, and can also leverage modeling capabilities to provide new services to their clients and expand the client base beyond those of the traditional Structural Engineer of Record. This advanced seminar will feature a series of sessions by leading BIM structural design experts, covering topics on best practices for using BIM for design through construction. Attendees will learn how to apply the latest technology to improve design efficiency and grow their business practice. Sponsoring Committee: ASCE/SEI-CASE Joint Committee on Building Information Modeling (BIM) Registration Fee: EB/ADV: $175; ONS: $250
MAINTAINING OUR NATION’S BRIDGE INVENTORY: A SHORT COURSE ON DIAGNOSTIC BRIDGE TESTING1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Earn 3.5 PDHs Please check the appropriate box on the registration page to register and pay for this seminar. PRESENTERS: H. Tripp Shenton, A.M.ASCE, University of Delaware Ed Zhou, URS Corporation Terry Wipf, P.D, P.E., M.ASCE, Iowa State University Brett Commander, Bridge Diagnostics Inc. Paul Barr, M.ASCE, Utah State University The Technical Committee on Methods of Monitoring Structural Performance will offer a short course on Diagnostic Bridge Testing. The objective is to provide an overview of diagnostic bridge testing, and how it can be used to effect the management and operation of the nation’s bridge inventory. The course content is geared toward practitioners, i.e., consulting bridge engineers, DOT bridge engineers, inspectors, etc.; however, it is also of interest to academics, undergraduate and graduate students, and vendors. Each participant will be provided with a binder which will include all presented material.
