Closing Session
The Las Vegas Strip, located in Clark County, Nevada, is home to some of the most unusual structures that have been built in the world today. The theme is that imagination should know no bounds and creativity is needed to re-invigorate and re-invent a community. This has been taken to heart by the design professionals, the developers, and project owners.
The science of attracting visitors is understanding their desirese and meet them. This requires an environment that is not bigger, but better, to stimulate the senses and quicken the pulse. Much of the technology to build these favulous structures is behind the scenes employing new products, procedures and processes.
These unique buildings create challenges for engineers to assure their stability as well as meeting the necessary "special effects." new concepts for design, review, and compliance needed to be developed to assure the safety and security of our citizens as well as that of the more than 40 million tourists who visit Clark Country each year.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Ronald L. Lynn, Director/Building Official, Clark County Department of Development Services
