Submission Instructions

To ensure meaningful technical content, all papers for ASCE's Pipelines 2011 Conference will be peer-reviewed by a minimum of two recognized experts. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Papers should not have been previously published with current contents. Prospective authors are invited to submit a one-page abstract in English not to exceed 500 words outlining the scope of the paper and the principal points they believe would benefit the professional community. The drafts must be prepared in MS Word or Word Perfect and submitted electronically by November 3, 2010 to ASCE Pipelines 2011 via the ASCE Conference website at www.pipelinesconference.org.

Abstracts should include the following information about the primary author: name, credentials (i.e., P.E., Ph.D.), title, affiliation of authors, complete mailing address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address. Pipeline Division or ASCE membership is required for submission.

The Pipelines 2011 Conference Planning Committee will review abstracts and notify the primary authors of acceptance by Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Draft papers are due by February 1, 2011, authors will receive comments by March 1, 2011, and final papers are due by Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Deadlines will be strictly observed. Failure to submit final papers by the deadline may result in removal from the conference program and the proceedings. Authors whose abstracts or draft papers are selected will be requested to submit a final paper along with the paper deposit fee of $150 by the prescribed deadline. Submitting a paper for the conference constitutes agreement that, if their paper is accepted, the author will register for the conference at the appropriate fee(s), attend the conference, and make their presentations in person.

The deposit fee will be credited towards the conference registration for the author submitting the final paper. Upon acceptance of the paper, the registration discount code and instructions will be forwarded to the author. Authors uploading more than one paper will pay only one deposit fee. If an individual uploads a paper but a substitute author will present the paper, please note the deposit fee will not apply to the substitute's registration fee. All paper deposit fees are non-refundable and nontransferable, and payment of the deposit fee does not guarantee the author a copy of the proceedings. Authors must attend the conference to receive the proceedings. Should an individual pay the deposit fee but fail to register for the conference by the prescribed deadline, the individual's abstract/paper will be removed from the conference program and proceedings, and the deposit will not be refunded.

All expenses associated with the preparation, submission, and presentation of abstracts and papers are the responsibility of the authors. Individual abstracts must be uploaded to the conference website by Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Draft papers are must be uploaded by Tuesday, February 1, 2011 and Final papers must be uploaded by Tuesday, March 15, 2011. No exceptions to these deadlines will be made.
