The Transportation and Development Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers, together with our hosts the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, are pleased to invite you to the 29th International Air Transport Conference (IATC). Aviation is changing and with change comes new challenges for airports and aviation systems and their planners, engineers and constructors to keep current. This year’s Conference will focus on the dynamic programs underway at airports in the US and other countries to accommodate “A World of Growth”. It’s a chance to experience and a chance to learn from some of the top professionals in the industry.
Keeping up with the challenges of aviation planning, design, construction and modeling requires insight into emerging technologies, materials and planning, design and construction techniques and their implementation. The 29th International Air Transportation Conference provides a forum to address the planning, engineering and construction of airports to meet the challenges of increased demand, larger aircraft and new security requirements.
We’ve scheduled presentations from industry leading organizations and policymakers such as The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Boeing, Airbus Industries and American Airlines, and two separate peer-review “lessons learned” roundtables featuring officials from leading airports explaining the challenges they faced in accommodating passenger growth and the introduction of next-generation aircraft. Attend seven technical sessions in 3 concurrent specialty tracks featuring some 40 presentations on subjects ranging from modeling and simulation to airspace reconfiguration to innovations in people-movers and aircraft pavement reconstruction and management. You will also have the opportunity to attend a technical tour of a number of significant projects recently completed or underway at the close-by Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and hear from airport management about the challenges and opportunities that are part of managing one of the largest and busiest airports in the world.
During the plenary session the Robert Horonjeff Award recognizing outstanding achievements in, and contributions to, the advancement of the field of air transportation engineering will be presented. Also being presented will be the Elmer A. Sperry Award which is given in recognition of a distinguished engineering contribution which, through application, proved in actual service, has advanced the art of transportation whether by land, sea or air. A number of T&DI’s technical committees will be meeting during the 29th IATC and you are welcome to attend those meetings and talk to committee chairmen about becoming members. In addition you can earn up to 15 nationally recognized Professional Development Hours for your attendance at the 29th IATC.
Not all of the conference will be solely dedicated to technical sessions and tours. You will also get to experience a bit of Texas hospitality at the Tuesday evening social event which will give attendees and their guests a taste of the cowboy tradition that Texas is known for.
