Geo Challenge 2007

Who: Student teams (maximum of four students on a team with at least two undergraduate members) can participate in the event.  Only one team per school will be allowed to compete. 

Where: Competition will be held at Geo-Denver 2007 in Denver, Colorado. 

When:  Design papers are due January 12, 2007.  The competition will be held at Geo-Denver, February 18-21, 2007.

What: To design and build miniature reinforced-soil retaining walls inside plywood forms, using sand with paper affixed to a poster board wall facing as reinforcement.  Competition rules can be found at http://www.ce.unlv.edu/egl/geo-challenge/

Why: To provide an opportunity for students and their advisors to attend Geo-Denver 2007.   Prizes will be awarded to the winning team!

How: Any student team that meets the guidelines and submits a design paper may participate. Design papers will be reviewed by a geotechnical panel and ranked. The top ranking teams will be awarded a $2000 travel grant and complementary conference registrations for the team members and their faculty advisor.
