Join Us in New Orleans in 2008
On behalf of the Geo-Institute of ASCE, we invite you to attend GeoCongress 2008: The Challenge of Sustainability in the Geoenvironment, which will be held in New Orleans March 9–12, 2008. This is the perfect opportunity to expand your technical knowledge while experiencing the culture of New Orleans.
GeoCongress 2008 will be alive with discussions of current trends and the role of geoengineers and geoscientists in protecting and preserving the environment. The Congress will also highlight the expansive and interdisciplinary nature of geoenvironmental issues. This Congress builds on the successful 1995 ASCE Geoenvironment Congress hosted in the same city, which is now flourishing with new growth and lively renewed spirit.
If you are a practitioner, consultant, regulator, policymaker, researcher, educator, or student, you will have numerous opportunities to learn about innovative and emerging scientific advances and technologies that are needed to address a wide range of geoenvironmental issues. These issues include soil and groundwater protection and remediation, the challenges associated with sustainable development and mitigation of natural and manmade hazards.
GeoCongress 2008 will include all of the activities you’ve come to expect from the Geo-Institute’s annual Congress: dozens of technical sessions; notable plenary lectures; relevant Short Courses; the Terzaghi, Peck and Seed Lectures; workshops in all fields; extensive exhibits; networking events; a multifaceted student program; interesting post-Congress field trips; and a post-Congress volunteer workday in New Orleans.
We look forward to meeting you in person in New Orleans.
