GeoChallenge
GeoChallenge is a set of student competitions sponsored by the Geo-Institute of ASCE. The competitions are designed to challenge and encourage undergraduate and graduate civil engineering students who are interested in geotechnical engineering. There are three different components to this year's GeoChallenge.
- GeoWall: Design and build a model mechanically stabilized earth wall
- GeoPrediction: Predict the behavior of a real world geotechnical system
- GeoPoster: Present your research in poster form
Finalists in each competition will be invited to the Geo-Institute's Geo-Congress 2012 to compete with the best geotechnical engineering students in the country.
Key Dates:
- January 9, 2012: GeoWall papers due
- February 3, 2012: GeoPrediction, GeoPoster, and travel grant applications due
- February 24, 2012: All competitions finalists and travel grant winners announced
- March 25, 2012: GeoWall Captain's meeting at Geo-Congress 2012
- March 26, 2012: Finals for all competitions 2:30 - 6:30 p.m. on exhibit floor of Geo-Congress 2012
- March 27, 2012: Hero's & Awards Luncheon, includes Geo-Challenge Awards

Student Travel Grants
Travel Grants are available to student members of G-I through the G-I Organizational Member Council and for competitors in the GeoChallenge competitions. No more than one travel grant will be awarded to each applicant.
