Ethics for Geotechnical Engineering (AGP Workshop)

Order of the Engineer Ceremony
Wednesday, March 28, 2012
12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

Over 3,900 engineers have participated in ASCE-led Ring Ceremonies since the summer of 2003. Participants will take the Obligation of the Engineer and receive a certificate and stainless steel ring. Any engineer is eligible for induction if he or she has graduated from an ABET-accredited engineering program or holds a license as a Professional Engineer. Students enrolled in ABET-accredited engineering degree programs are eligible if they are within two academic terms of graduation

Registration fee: Induction $15; No fee to observe the ceremony.

2012 Geo-Institute- USUCGER Workshop: Research & Education Priorities for the Geotechnical Engineering Community

The United States University Council on Geotechnical Education and Research (USUCGER) in collaboration with the Geo-Institute will be holding this post 2012 Geo-Congress workshop at the congress venue in Oakland to discuss the emerging priorities for education and research in the geotechnical engineering community. The research themes will include examination of broader impacts of research proposals, promotion of faculty/ practitioner collaboration in publishing, incorporation of undergraduate students in research, and fostering teacher/scholar models to address potential disconnect between teaching and research. Specific educational themes will include the impact of ASCE policy 465 on geotechnical engineering education, importance of professional licensure of geotechnical engineering faculty, and examination of opportunities for incorporating technologies to enhance geotechnical engineering education.

Software Demonstrations
