Salton Sea Environmental Restoration Project
You are invited to join us for a tour of the fascinating Salton Sea, located 226 feet below sea level. The tour will be lead by a representative of the U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) Salton Sea Science Office.
The Salton Sea Ecosystem Restoration Program is coordinating efforts between the Legislature, various federal, State, and local agencies, stakeholders, and the general public to implement restoration activities at the Salton Sea in conformance with the following objectives:
1) restore long-term stable aquatic and shoreline habitat for the historic levels and diversity of fish and wildlife that depend on the Salton Sea,
2) eliminate air quality impacts from restoration projects, and
3) protect water quality.
This bus tour may include the wetland restoration project on the North Shore, the Salton Sea State Recreation Area, and other destinations along the lake that illustrate the water and environmental challenges facing the area.
Includes bus transportation and lunch. Dress appropriately for hot sunny conditions and bring sunscreen and adequate water. Good footwear and hats are advised. Drive time between the hotel and first stop is approximately 1 hour.
