Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Opened in 1963, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway was an engineering marvel. Traveling from the Valley Station (elevation 2,643 feet) to the Mountain Station (elevation 8,516 feet), the trams traverse five towers. During 26 months of construction, helicopters flew some 23,000 missions, hauling the workers and materials needed to erect the towers and Mountain Station.
In 2000, the Tramway reopened with the World’s Largest Rotating Tramcars. In the winter, visitors can try their skills at cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Rental equipment is available at the Adventure Center, snow conditions permitting. During the summer, camping and guided nature walks are available. Also at the top is Peaks Fine Dining Restaurant or the Pines Café, a cafeteria-style restaurant, many spectacular views, Natural History Museum, two documentaries on the history of the Tramway and State Park, and a gift shop.

Includes transportation and lunch. Dress appropriately for hot sunny conditions and
bring sunscreen and adequate water. Good footwear and hats are essential.
