General Information

 

ADA Compliance: The Hawai`i Convention Center is fully accessible to the physically challenged and provides auxiliary aids and services. If you require special assistance at the Congress, please check the appropriate box on the registration form.  While ASCE will make every effort to meet the needs of the physically challenged, accommodations cannot be guaranteed without prior notification.

                      

Advance Registration Discount: To qualify for the pre-registration discount, register online, fax, call, or postmark payment by the Early Bird and Advance deadlines.

 

ASCE Bookstore: ASCE will operate its popular bookstore at the Congress. ASCE offers more than 400 titles, many of which will be available only at the Congress.

 

Attire: The dress code for the Congress is aloha casual. Meeting room temperatures will vary, so wear layered clothing to ensure your personal comfort. We also recommend attendees wear

 

Badges: To receive a badge, you must register.  Your name badge is your admission to the technical sessions and the Exhibit Hall. Pre-registered participants are to pick up their badges upon checking in to the Onsite Registration Counter at the Hawai`i Convention Center.

 

Badge Sharing Not Allowed: Please take note that registration is per individual and is not exchangeable between colleagues.

 

Cancellation: Cancellations must be received in writing at ASCE Headquarters by April 16, 2008, to receive a refund of registration fees. A $50 processing fee will be deducted from all refunds. Additional event tickets will be fully refunded if cancellation is received in writing by April 16, 2008. Fax or e-mail cancellation requests to ATTN: Customer Service at fax: (703) 295-6144, e-mail to Registrations@asce.org, or mail to ASCE Attn: Customer Service, 1801 Alexander Ball Dr, Reston, VA 20191-4400, USA.  No refunds will be made for cancellations received after April 16, 2008.

Children: Children under 18 years of age may attend the Congress functions if registered as a Guest and accompanied by an adult. 

Children at Luau: Children four years old or less can register to attend the Key Social Event: Luau at Sea Life Park for the special discounted registration fee of $25.  You must contact Adele Dicken at ASCE to make this special arrangement at adicken@asce.org.

Confirmation of Registration: Confirmations are e-mailed to all who provide valid e-mail addresses. If you do not receive confirmation within three weeks, please contact ASCE registration at (800) 548-2723 and speak with a Registration Customer Service Representative.

 

Daily Registration: Daily registration does not include Proceedings.

 

EWRI Membership Included: Not a member of EWRI?  When you register for the Congress at non-member rates, you will be enrolled for one year in EWRI. (Membership becomes active post-Congress.) For more information on member benefits, go to www.ewrinstitute.org/membership/.

Ground Transportation: ASCE-EWRI will provide daily shuttle bus transportation between the two Congress hotels and the convention center.  Details will be provided in the Final Program.

 

Group Discount: For four or more registrants from the same organization at the same address, each receives a $50 discount on the respective registration fee.  Registration forms and payment must be received together all at one time.  To be eligible for this discount, registration forms and payment must be received by the Early Bird and/or Advance.  After the Advance deadline, the group discount is no longer available.  The group discount is not available via online registration.

Luau: Full registrants can purchase tickets to the Key Social Event: Luau for $50.  The additional ticket price for guests is $75.  The Guest Package includes a ticket to the Luau.  Children four years old or less can register to attend the Key Social Event: Luau at Sea Life Park for the special discounted registration fee of $25.  You must contact Adele Dicken at ASCE to make this special arrangement at adicken@asce.org.

 

No Smoking Policy: ASCE supports a “No Smoking” policy. Smoking is prohibited in the Hawai`i Convention Center

and at all indoor venues hosting EWRI events.

Payment Required: Registrations will not be processed without the full payment or copy of official purchase order (P.O.), if applicable.

To pay by Purchase Order (P.O.), you must send an official P.O. form in with the registration form. P.O. form must accompany registration form in order to process registration.

Proceedings: One copy of the Proceedings is included with each Full registration fee.  For all those who receive the Proceedings with their registration or who have purchased a copy via their registration form will receive a ticket with their onsite materials.  You MUST pick up your Proceedings onsite by submitting your ticket to the EWRI booth located in the Exhibit Hall.

If you failed to pick up your Proceedings onsite, then post-conference you must mail in your Proceedings ticket with a written request within 30 days of the Congress, or no later than July 16, 2008.

Student registrants and Daily registrants may purchase the Proceedings on the registration form or onsite or post-conference.

 

Professional Development Hours (PDHs): Earn up to 24 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) – nationally recognized units of record – by attending technical sessions.

Please note that there are differences from state to state in continuing education requirements for professional engineering licensure. Each state registration board has the final authority to approve courses, credits, professional development hours for courses, and other methods of earning credit in that state. ASCE strongly recommends that individuals check with their state registration boards regularly for specific continuing education requirements in their jurisdictions that affect professional engineering licensure and the ability to renew licensure.

Seniors Discount: NEW this year!  If you are 70 years or more you can register at a deeply discounted rate.  Proof of age is required.  See the registration form for details.

 

Speaker/Moderator Registration: All speakers and moderators are required to register for the conference by the Advance registration deadline and submit payment for respective registration fees.

 

Student Registration: If you are a full-time student, you can register at a deeply discounted rate.  Proof of full-time student status and valid ID are required.  See the registration form for details.

Substitutions: Substitutions are allowed. Re-submit the original registration form with the original registrant’s name crossed out. Write Substitution at the top of the form. Complete ALL the information for the new registrant. Substitutions must be made by April 16, 2008.  After April 16, substitutions are to be made at the Onsite Registration Counter.

Weather: Honolulu’s May weather temperatures will hang around 85 degrees in the afternoon and will flutter to about 65 degrees in the evening. The water temperature stays between 70 and 80 degrees all year round. ASCE recommends sunscreen, sun hats, and sunglasses, as most days are forecast to be sunny and visitors will need protection outdoors from the tropical sun.
