To help shape Solutions to Building the Grid of Tomorrow, Ms. Barton will share her insights on what's changing in the industry, how the industry and others are responding to these changes, and how business strategies and engineering solutions can help bridge the gap. This discussion will take a provocative look at our industry and determine how the engineering ommunity can play a key role in building the future of the transmission grid. Lisa M. Barton is executive vice president - AEP Transmission, responsible for Transmission operations and new transmission business ventures. Barton also serves on the board of directors of Electric Transmission America (ETA), a joint venture between AEP and MidAmerican Energy Holding Company and Electric Transmission Texas, a joint venture between subsidiaries of AEP and MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company. |

Prior to her current position, she was senior vice president of Transmission Strategy and Business Development, vice president of Transmission Strategy and Business Development, managing director of Transmission, and director of Transmission Planning. She joined the company in 2006 from Northeast Utilities in Berlin, Connecticut, where she was responsible for Transmission Strategy, regional transmission organization (RTO) relations, and Compliance. Barton earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1987 from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass., and a juris doctorate degree in 1993 from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Mass. She is a graduate of The Executive Program-Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and a 2010 International Women's Foundation Fellow. Ms. Barton is a member of the New Hampshire and Massachusetts state bar associations and serves as a member of the board of directors for Amethyst, Inc., Homeless Families LLC and the Columbus Museum of Art. |
