NOTES FROM THE TECHNICAL CHAIR

Thank you for your participation in the Earth & Space Conference 2010.  There are a few items that we would like you to take notice of in the preparation of your abstracts and final paper submissions:

Abstracts

Abstracts must be received from all who wish to present their work at the conference.  The abstracts should be about 300 words; it should not contain artwork or references.  That abstract should present a concise statement of the scope, principal findings, and conclusions of the paper.  The abstracts will be reviewed by members of the Technical Committee to determine their suitability for the presentation at the conference. 

Final Papers

The acceptance of the papers to be published in the proceedings will be made based on the quality of the abstracts. Final papers should be at least 4 pages long and there is no page limit, though suggested length is 10 pages. The papers will be published in the conference proceedings. The final papers must adhere to the publication formats of ASCE. The papers will be reviewed by the editorial team for its general content and format.

Commitment to Attend and Expenses

Proposing authors must recognize that submission of an abstract is a commitment to complete the paper (if accepted), attend the conference, and present the paper in person.  Submission of an abstract indicates that permission to present the paper has been obtained from the responsible owning authority of the subject matter.  All expenses associated with the preparation, submission, and presentation of abstracts and papers are the responsibility of the authors.  This includes preparation of high-resolution digital manuscripts and illustrations.  Scholarship and/or travel funds are not available for conference attendees. 

Important Deadlines

Individual abstracts must be uploaded by August 18, 2009 to the Earth & Space 2010 website.  Final papers must be uploaded to the Earth & Space 2010 website by November 18, 2009.  Deadlines will be strictly observed.

Final Paper Deposit Fee

When submitting their final paper, authors whose abstracts are selected must pay the paper deposit fee of $100 which will be credited towards the author’s conference registration.  Submitting a paper for the conference constitutes  agreement that, if their paper is accepted, the author(s) will register for the conference at the appropriate fee(s), attend the conference, and make their presentations in person. All paper deposit fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable. 

* Note to authors with multiple papers submissions: the paper deposit fee of $100 (USD) applies for the first paper submission only.  No fees will be charged for additional paper uploads..

Commercialization

Commercialization in the form of touting a firm, company or product is unacceptable and will not be allowed in the final version of the papers.

Best Paper Awards

Several best paper awards will be selected by the Technical Committee and the Aerospace Division’s Technical committees, and they will be presented at the conference.

Questions regarding an abstract, paper, or presentation may be directed to the Symposia/Workshop Chairs.  Abstracts must be uploaded by 12:00 Midnight, Eastern Daylight Time, on Tuesday, September 1, 2009.
