Video Contest
The Solutions to Coastal Disasters 2011 Conference
(http://content.asce.org/conferences/cd2011) is excited to announce the first
ever Coastal Disasters Video Contest! We would like to invite you to submit a
short (<5min) or long (<20min) video to this contest, which will take place
during the conference in Anchorage, AK, June 26-29, 2011. Artists need not
attend the conference to participate.
The purpose of the contest is to showcase how video can be used to raise
awareness or educate the general public about coastal disasters. Topics can be
as varied as coastal erosion, coastal development, the 2010 Gulf Oil Spill, the
recent Japan Tsunami, marine debris, etc. Videos can also demonstrate the
beneficial effects of solutions to coastal disasters, or highlight consequences of
coastal development on the environment or other general coastal issues.
Videos can be made from live action footage, animation or a mix of media
types. They can have a direct clear message, or be more on the ...experimental
side. The videos need not have been created exclusively for this conference,
and it is acceptable if they have been shown elsewhere. However, videos must
be less than 10 years old.
Artists must own original rights to the video and soundtrack in their submission,
or have obtained clear permission to use copyrighted footage and show it at the
conference. In some cases, artists may be asked to submit copyright permission
forms from original sources. By submitting a video, each artist agrees that the
video can be shown at the Solutions to Coastal Disasters Film Night. Finally,
videos should not contain offensive images of human or animal casualties or
distress during disasters.
Submission Process:
