AIRPORT INFORMATION


Chicago O’Hare International Airport (airport code ORD) is approximately 18 miles (29 km) from downtown. 

Chicago O’Hare has four terminals:

Terminal 1    is for United and United Express flights   

                      plus Lufthansa departures.

Terminal 2    airlines include Air Canada, America

                     West, Continental, Northwest, United  

                      and US Airways

Terminal 3    airlines include Alaska, American and

                      Delta.

Terminal 5    is the international terminal for most

                      non-US airline departures and all

                      international arrivals.

AIR LINE SHUTTLE SERVICE INFORMATION


Bus/Shuttle Center
There is a central bus pick-up point located on the ground floor of the central parking garage in the main airport core between Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Follow the signs.  From Terminal 5 take the ATS transfer train to Terminal 3 and walk to the bus center. 

Continental Airport Express
Airport Express coaches and vans depart from each terminal for downtown Chicago. Information/booking counters are located in each terminal’s Arrivals area near baggage claim.
Departures are every 5-10 minutes with first departure around 6 a.m., last about 11.30 p.m.
• Reservations recommended for groups of 3 or more traveling to downtown Chicago.
• Fare: Around $46 round trip to downtown Chicago.

Omega Airport Shuttle
There is an hourly shuttle to Midway Airport operated by Omega Airport Shuttle. 


The service departs Terminal 5 at 40 minutes past the hour and the Bus/Shuttle Center at Terminals 1/2/3 at 45 minutes past the hour. The first departure is at 6.40 a.m., the last 11.40 p.m. Journey time is about an hour.
• Reservations recomended for groups of 3 or more traveling to downtown Chicago.
• Fare: $36 Round trip to downtown Chicago.

CAR RENTAL INFORMATION


Save on car rentals! Enjoy the many attractions in the Chicago area while at the Conference. ASCE has negotiated discounted car rental rates during ASCE’s Annual Civil Engineering Conference.

Taxi/Limo Service


There are taxi ranks outside each terminal’s Arrivals area. Taxi dispatchers curbside ensure a reasonably smooth operation. Journey time to downtown Chicago is 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Estimated oneway fare is around $35-$40.

Local Transportation

The Chicago Transit Authority runs a 24 hour train service —the Blue Line—from the airport to downtown Chicago.


From Terminal 1, 2 and 3 Arrival areas follow the signs to the CTA station which is located on the lowest level of the Parking Garage in the main terminal area. Passengers at Terminal 5 take the ATS transfer train to Terminal 3. Blue Line stations Downtown include Washington, Monroe,
Jackson and La Salle. The Orange Line to Midway Airport connects with the Blue Line at Clark/Lake station. Journey time downtown is around 45 minutes.
