Hear Alberto Aleman Zubieta, M.ASCE, CEO of the Panama Canal Authority, speak on the expansion of the Panama Canal. Zubieta has worked to transform the Canal into a corner­stone of the global transportation system and a model of excellence and transparency. Bidding for work on the expansion began in January 2007. An initial budget of $5.25 billion would go toward the construction of a third set of locks that would double the capacity of the canal linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
