AEI 2011

Destination

Oakland is a renaissance city with a sense of history and style. Its robust economy and fertile multicultural landscape makes it a prime destination. One of the country's top seaports and the commercial heart of the Bay Area, Oakland has it all: great weather, world-class arts and entertainment, top-flight restaurants and hotels.

Oakland is rich in cultural heritage. The area was once the home of the Ohlone Indians and later the heart of 44,000-acre Peralta rancho, established through a Spanish land grant. Oakland was the western terminus of the first transcontinental railroad and a refuge after the 1906 earthquake. During both world wars, the city was an important base for defense contractors; now it's a haven for high tech and the arts and the home to a growing movement of culinary pioneers.

Tucked between the waters of San Francisco Bay and the verdant coastal hills, Oakland is the Bay Area's true temperate zone. Everyone loves the year-round vacation weather where temperatures hovers between 50 - 60 in the winter and spring and remain in the 70's throughout the summer and fall. Oakland's proximity to San Francisco makes it an ideal location for the AEI 2011 Conference.
