Registration Information

Advance Registration Discount: To qualify for a savings of up to $200.00 on registration, register online, fax, call, or postmark payment by the Early Bird and Advance deadlines.

 

Badges: To receive a badge, you must register.  Your name badge is your admission to the technical sessions and the Exhibit Hall.  Pre-registered participants are to pick up their badges upon checking in to the Onsite Registration Desk at the Ramada Conference Center Hotel.

 

Badge Policy and Ribbons

Your name badge is your admission to the educational sessions.  Please wear your badge at all times while in the hotel.  G-I/ASCE recommends you remove your badge when leaving the hotel for your personal safety.  Tickets are required for the pre- and post-conference and special events.  Be sure to bring tickets with you to each event, as you will not be admitted without a ticket.  Ribbons will be available at the Registration desk.

 

Badge Sharing Not Allowed: Please note that registrations are per individual and are not exchangeable between colleagues.

 

Cancellation: Cancellations must be received in writing at ASCE Headquarters by August 20, 2008, to receive a refund of registration fees.  A $50 processing fee will be deducted from all refunds.  Additional event tickets will be fully refunded if cancellation is received in writing by August 20, 2008.  Fax or e-mail cancellation requests to ATTN: Customer Service at fax: (703) 295-6144, e-mail to Registrations@asce.org, or mail to ASCE Attn: Customer Service, 1801 Alexander Bell Dr, Reston, VA 20191-4400, USA.  No refunds will be made for cancellations received after August 20, 2008.

Children Attending the Conference: No children under 18 years of age are allowed to attend unless registered as a guest and accompanied by an adult.

Confirmation of Registration: Confirmations are e-mailed to all who provide valid e-mail addresses.  If you do not receive confirmation within three weeks of registering, please contact ASCE registration at (800) 548-2723 and speak with a Registration Customer Service Representative, or e-mail Registrations@asce.org.

Paper Deposit Fee:  The presenting author is required to pay the paper deposit fee of $150 in order to upload their final paper.  The paper deposit fee will be credited towards the presenting author's conference registration.  All papers accepted for the conference constitute agreement that the presenting author will (1) pay a paper deposit, (2) register for the conference at the appropriate Speaker fee, (3) attend the conference, and (4) make their presentation in person.  The paper deposit fee is non-refundable, but it is transferable.  Only one author per paper has to pay the paper deposit fee. 

Payment Required: Registrations will not be processed without the full payment or copy of official purchase order (P.O.), if applicable.

To pay by Purchase Order (P.O.), you must send an official P.O. form in with the registration form. P.O. form must accompany registration form in order to process registration.

Online registration is available for those who wish to pay via credit card.

 

Press/Media Registration: G-I/ASCE will only provide a complimentary registration to authorized press personnel.  Each press registration package is subject to approval by the Geo-Institute.

 

Release: By submitting this registration form, I hereby release any photographs that may be incidentally taken of me during these events by ASCE to be used for any purpose.

 

Speaker/Moderator Registration: All speakers and moderators are required to register for the conference by the Advance registration deadline and submit payment for respective registration fees.

 

Student Registration: If you are a full-time student, you can register at a deeply discounted rate.  Proof of full-time student status and valid ID are required.  See the registration form for fees.

Substitutions: Substitutions are allowed.  Re-submit the original registration form with the original registrant’s name crossed out.  Write Substitution at the top of the form.  Complete ALL the information for the new registrant.  Substitutions must be made by August 20, 2008.  After August 20, substitutions are to be made at the Onsite Registration Counter.

Waiver: I agree and acknowledge that I am undertaking participation in ASCE events and activities at my own free and intentional act, and I am fully aware that possible physical injury might occur to me to me as a result of my participation.  I give this acknowledgement freely and knowingly that I am, as a result, able to participate in ASCE events, and I do hereby assume responsibility for my own well-being.  I also agree not to allow any other individual to participate in my place.

ADA Compliance

The Ramada Conference Center Tallahassee is fully accessible to the physically challenged and includes volume control pay phones, TDD, assistive listening devices, and automatic doors.  If you require special assistance at the conference, please submit a written description of your requirements with your registration form or e-mail registration@asce.org .  While ASCE will make every effort to meet the needs of the physically challenged, accommodations cannot be guaranteed without prior notification.

Attire

The dress code for the Conference is business casual.  Meeting room temperatures will vary, so wear layered clothing to ensure your personal comfort.  We also recommend attendees wear comfortable shoes.

Professional Development Hours (PDHs)

You may earn PDHs, which are nationally recognized units of record, by attending conference technical sessions.  Please note that there are differences from state to state in continuing education requirements for professional engineering licensure.  Each state licensing board has the final authority to approve course, credits, PDHs, and other methods of earning credits in that state.  G-I/ASCE strongly recommends that individuals regularly check with their state licensing boards for specific continuing education requirements in their jurisdictions that affect professional engineering licensure and the ability to renew licensure.

Earn 23 Professional Development Hours.

Proceedings

One copy of the Proceedings is included with each Full registration category and the Student Full Package.  All those who receive the Proceedings with their registration category or who have purchased a copy via their registration form will receive a copy of the Proceedings at the onsite Registration Counter.  You MUST pick up your Proceedings onsite. 

If you fail to pick up your Proceedings onsite, then post-conference you must mail in your Proceedings ticket with a written request within 30 days of the Conference, or no later than Friday, October 24, 2008.

For those registrants who want to purchase additional copies of  the Proceedings; you may do so on the registration form for an additional $125.  Post-conference Proceedings can be ordered via ASCE’s Publications Department at www.pubs.asce.org.

Program Changes

Programs and Sessions are subject to change and ASCE reserves the right to substitute a program, session, and/or speaker of equal caliber to fulfill educational requirements.

Taxi Service

Go to the airport cabstand.  Taxis from the airport to the hotel will cost approximately $20.

 

Weather

Tallahassee’s a great walking city, so be sure to pack comfortable shoes and clothes.  The temperature usually ranges in the low 60s to low 80s.
