Dr. Sarah Slaughter is currently Senior Lecturer in the MIT Sloan School of Management, coordinating the Sustainable Business Laboratory and the Sloan Sustainability and Business Initiative. She also works with public and private organizations on sustainability and disaster resiliency of infrastructure and the built environment. Previously, Dr. Slaughter founded MOCA Systems, Inc. based on research she conducted as a professor at MIT on construction process simulation. She led the company as CEO and President, commercializing the construction simulation system to help major companies, institutions, and government agencies manage their capital projects.  Before founding MOCA, she was a professor in the MIT Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Construction Management, and researched innovations in the built environment. She was previously a professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Lehigh University, and worked with the Center for Advanced Technology for Large Structural Systems to analyze the impacts of material and design innovations on large infrastructure systems. Dr. Slaughter has published over 50 articles and books, and has served on numerous international and national committees related to infrastructure and the built environment. She is a leader in the field of strategic management of capital facility assets, and a recognized expert in innovations in the built environment. She is currently on the Board on Infrastructure and the Constructed Environment in the National Research Council, National Academies of Science, and on the Board of Directors for the Civil Engineering Forum for Innovation, American Society of Civil Engineers and the editorial boards of several publications. Dr. Slaughter received her B.S., M.S., and PhD degrees from MIT.
