Mr. Shavalay, the Chief Financial Officer of the American Society of Civil Engineers and its affiliates, is CEFI’s treasurer. He has been instrumental in implementing quality financial systems and maintaining the financial strength of ASCE and CEFI, since he was hired in March 2005.
Mr. Shavalay has over 35 years of experience in finance and accounting. He started his career in banking and moved on to public accounting for 12 years at Ernst & Young, where he worked with numerous public, private, governmental and nonprofit organizations. He then pursued a specialty in nonprofit organizations and has been a CFO for nonprofits for over 20 years. He has had a wide-variety of experience, including strategic planning, information technology, human resources and organization administration. Mr. Shavalay holds a B.S. in Economics from Randolph-Macon College and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Mr. Shavalay and his wife Merry reside in Oakton, Virginia and have one son, Kevin.
